"Hola, mi nombre es Florencia Cadorini, soy responsable del programa Subir al Sur en Argentina.

Comencé a vincularme con la organización cuando estudiaba en la Universidad buscando proyectos que vincularan a las personas desde la interculturalidad, en la que el viaje fuera un motivo para que nos encontráramos en la diversidad. Una forma de empezar a construir un mundo para todos y todas, de transformar y transformarnos con la mirada de otros."

¿Cómo ha sido tu trabajo después?

"Mi trabajo luego ha sido intenso, muchos desafíos, muchas personas que hacen posible que el movimiento se sostenga, crezca y se replique en distintas esquinas del mundo.

Lo que más me gusta en mí trabajo es la posibilidad de cambio, cuando en las evaluaciones finales los voluntarios nos expresan que su vida ha cambiado.Otra cosa que me gusta mucho es la posibilidad de crear- recrear las condiciones dadas. Algo que me entusiasma mucho es que el voluntariado se ha convertido en una especie de semillero y mi lugar está vinculado a poder regar ese semillero para que germine."

¿En qué tipo de proyectos trabajan vuestros voluntarios?

"En proyectos vinculados a educación para que más jóvenes puedan terminar la escuela secundaria, otros vinculados a recreación y deporte para que la creación sea un elemento cotidiano y estimulador en el proceso de formación de niños y niñas, huertas comunitarias, gestión de proyectos para acompañar a organizaciones locales a que sus actividades se repliquen y más acciones sociales se reproduzcan en los territorios locales."

¿Qué tipo de voluntarios le gustaría recibir ? / ¿Existe un perfil del voluntario perfecto?

"Nos gusta recibir gente que se anime a ser parte de un proyecto social, que se sienta motivado por involucrarse, ser protagonista, que tenga interés en promover acciones vinculadas a la inclusión social, gente que sea capaz de comprometerse, gente con ganas de soñar. No creemos que hagan falta más requisitos que estos, el resto lo iremos construyendo juntos."

¿Cuáles son sus deseos de futura para la cooperación entre las organizaciones?

"Nuestro deseo para el futuro de la cooperación entre las organizaciones es poder promover el intercambio y la movilidad para que más jóvenes se animen a ser voluntarios en el mundo."

Si ahora pudieras viajar como voluntario ICYE en el extranjero, ¿a qué país preferirías ir?

"Si pudiera viajar como voluntaria me gustaría ir a Waslala, es un lugar maravilloso en una novela de Gioconda Belli, en la que una pareja de jóvenes emprenden un viaje en busca de un lugar maravilloso, de una ciudad ideal que parece haber desaparecido, quedando sólo la leyenda y la esperanza de su existencia: ese lugar es Waslala. Es la utopía de un mundo mejor, más justo, dónde los niños tienen acceso a la educación, donde no tienen que trabajar para vivir, donde la cultura y el respeto son algo cotidiano."

"Hola, mi nombre es Jorge Iván Hermida, soy el Coordinador General de los programas de ICYE Colombia."

¿Podría llevarnos de vuelta a los días en que comenzó a trabajar con ICYE?

"Participé en el programa de voluntariado CSV en el Reino Unido 1998-99, a mi regreso me vinculé como voluntario y miembro de la Asociación. Después de vivir varios años fuera del país, regresé a Colombia en 2004 con la maravillosa oportunidad de trabajar en la oficina como parte del Staff.

Desde ese momento he participado en los procesos de envío y recepción de voluntarios. He estado relacionado con todos los Comités de la Federación, he participado en diferentes proyectos, programas,asambleas seminarios y actividades en Colombia y en diferentes partes del mundo; con nuestra federación de ICYE y partners con los cuales cooperamos alrededor del mundo."

¿Qué es lo que más te gusta en tu trabajo?

"La posibilidad de estar conectado con la realidad del mundo. Compartir y aprender todo el tiempo de diferentes personas, culturas, formas de vivir y de trabajar. Viajar y crecer personal y profesionalmente constantemente."

¿En qué tipo de proyectos trabajan vuestros voluntarios?

"Tenemos alrededor de 50 diferentes proyectos sociales con los cuales cooperamos en diferentes áreas tales como: niñez, liderazgo juvenil, ancianos, educación, género, desarrollo comunitario, coordinación de proyectos, adicciones, jardines infantiles, educación artística, deportes y más. Constantemente estamos conociendo nuevas organizaciones y haciendo nuevas alianzas, dentro y fuera de Bogotá."

¿Qué tipo de voluntarios le gustaría recibir ? / ¿Existe un perfil del voluntario perfecto? 

"Creemos que los voluntarios que vienen a nuestro país deben estar dispuestos a descubrir el país y la cultura, a partir del respeto y el interés por el trabajo social voluntario. Mucha energía, mente abierta, buena actitud y ganas de vivir la mejor experiencia de su vida."

¿Cuáles son sus deseos de futura para la cooperación entre las organizaciones?
"Poder recibir y enviar muchos voluntarios desde y hacia España o los países con los que cooperamos."

Si ahora pudieras viajar como voluntario ICYE en el extranjero, ¿a qué país preferirías ir?
"En Africa Oriental o Central."

"I am Jude Katamba, a UVP/ICYE Uganda staff member in charge of hosting International Volunteers coming to Uganda and also arrange Volunteers Immigration formalities.

I started working with UVP 8yrs ago, first as a volunteer support staff organizing International Volunteers' arrival orientation camp,arranging airport pick up and drop off, visiting volunteers in their respective projects and host families, listening to their challenges and expectations and then later write individual reports of my findings to UVP Board for a way forward.

I have also been part of the recruitment committee for verifying Ugandan candidates who wish to join the volunteering Programme in Europe to date.

My work with UVP/ICYE Uganda has and is still very rewarding as well as challenging. Looking at ICYE Programme, it is a Programme of continuous challenges given the fact that you deal with youth from a different economic background, work methodologies/perception, educational background etc. Much as it is challenging, it is also rewarding because it exposes you to how to handle crisis and improve on best practices. It is a huge rewarding experience to know along the way that we both need each other and share common goals and basic requirements that are human freedoms, transparency, intercultural dialogue and understanding.

My job with ICYE has been an eye opener to the outside world I did not know before. I have learnt how to engage in dialogue with Partners Communicative structures as set up by ICYE International Organization, guideline booklet. I have learnt to observe and respect time keeping through ICYE, I have managed to attend several workshops and seminars in different countries organized by ICYE International Organization, ICJA Welwarts Programmes, EVS Seminars where by I got to learn a lot about how to effect the ICYE impact assessment standards within work my work ethics. I have really made friends for life through this Programme."

In what kind of project do your volunteers work? Has a new group of ICYE volunteers started recently working in your projects?

"We have several work Projects for Volunteers' in Uganda, depending on their skills and preferences. You can visit our website for more details.

Among the Projects there are:

a) Orphaned Homes
b) Wildlife Education Projects(Uganda Wildlife Centre.
c) Primary Schools
d) Home for children with special needs.
e) Environment Conservation Project.
f) Center for former sex workers rehabilitation Project.
g) Institute for women and girl child empowerment Programme."

What kind of volunteers would you like to receive? / Is there a perfect volunteer profile?

"We would welcome volunteers irrespective of age and sex as long as they are above 18 years and well motivated to serve in a developing country like Uganda. They should be flexible and adaptive to a new environment. They should be able to speak English."

Did you have new workplaces joining in ICYE programs this season?
"We have new work placement available 2014-15:

a) The Uganda Wildlife Centre Zoo Entebbe.
b) The Environment Alert Organization - Kampala
c) St. Noah's Orphanage Home Caritas,Wakiso.
d) Holy Family Orphanage Home - Nazzigo."

Which are your wishes for the future co-operation between organizations?

"We would like to have cooperation more on short term Programmes (STEPS) as we have also experienced a wide decline in longterm sending Programmes. Also, would be interesting to explore the possibility to send medical doctors or professional as volunteers to Africa."

If you could now travel as an ICYE volunteer abroad, to which country would you prefer to go to?

"Interesting question, why not Spain. Am a Real Madrid fan and my world favorite club, how would I wait to see it play in its own Country! A friend of mine told me how you have fine weather similar to Uganda. I hate the cold the cold, I know you are warmer than other European countries though I would battle with the language. I am also aware of the finest beaches in Europe are in Spain , will not wait to be there, sun bathing.
